Statement by the Association of Air Ambulances

The Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) represents 21 independent air ambulance charities and supporting ambulance services across the UK whose members agree to follow a clear code of good conduct, including the Codes of Fundraising Practise as set out by the Fundraising Regulator.

Each member charity is governed by its own Board of Trustees and is supported by the community in which it operates its services.

Following allegations made in a national newspaper over the weekend about some activities of The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS), registered charity 1098874, the AAA Board of Directors has decided unanimously to suspend the AAA membership of TAAS pending the outcome of a formal investigation into the allegations by the Charity Commission and by the AAA.

On behalf of its membership, this Association wishes to stress that the allegations relate to the activities of The Air Ambulance Service only, which is unconnected to any other air ambulance charity in the UK.

Issued by the Board of Directors, The Association of Air Ambulances
