Air Ambulance Awards Shortlist Announced
The Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) is delighted to announce the next line up of expert speakers taking to the stage at this year’s National Air Ambulance Conference taking place on Monday 13th November at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel.
Professor Sir Keith Porter was educated at Marlborough College and St Thomas’s Hospital, London. He was appointed Consultant Trauma Surgeon at Birmingham Accident Hospital in 1986, a service that is now delivered at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he is both Professor of Clinical Traumatology and the Clinical Director of the Major Trauma Centre. He is the clinical lead for the care of injured soldiers returning to the UK from both Iraq and Afghanistan for the last decade.
Professor Porter has been a leader in the development in the new medical subspecialty of pre-hospital emergency medicine and until recently Chairman of the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care and the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Emergency Medicine. He is Chair of the Trauma Care Council and co-editor of the journal “Trauma”.
Professor Porter has over 150 peer review publications and has co-authored/edited numerous books. For his services to the military he was knighted in the 2010 Queen’s New Year’s honours list. He will be speaking on a new educational application for the general public which provides knowledge on immediate first aid at the scene of mass injury.
Lisa Curatolo BSc (Hons) PGCert DipRTM (RCSEd) has been a Paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) since 2000. Based in Glasgow for the past 17 years, she has completed various secondments in the Ambulance Control Centre and graduated with a BSc (Hons) Advanced Paramedic Practitioner.
Being extremely interested in working in Critical Care and Retrieval Medicine, Lisa joined the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) in 2011 as an Advanced Retrieval Practitioner. She currently splits her time between EMRS & being a Consultant Paramedic for SAS leading on Telehealth and Paediatrics. Lisa is an active member of the faculty for the Diploma in Retrieval and Transfer Medicine held at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Lisa will share with delegates, her experience of being involved in significant incidents and the importance of a strong work life balance.
Nigel Risner is the only motivational speaker in Europe to have been awarded Speaker of the Year from The Academy for Chief Executives, The Executive Committee and Footdown. He is a respected author, television presenter and a prolific speaker. As one of the youngest CEO’s of a financial services company in the City of London, Nigel knows business as well as he knows life and more importantly he knows what it takes to lead a successful business!

Organised by the AAA; the leading pre-hospital air ambulance conference has become a firm fixture on event calendars across the world wide air ambulance community and is open to all members and non-members. It aims to inspire, inform and incite debate, providing a platform for the air ambulance industry to come together, share ideas and build partnerships.
The conference is followed by the prestigious Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence and Gala Dinner held during the evening.
